Charlie's Apple

Can you believe that we are here?  Yesterday, we bid 2012 adieu and now I find myself looking down the tail end of March into April.  They say that time flies when you are having fun.  I would say that is true, it's definitely been a fun ride with Bobby over the last 12 months.  He brings out the child in me and makes me laugh until it hurts, or until I get physically hurt (what is it with boys wanting to rough and tumble?!).  But, it's been a great journey.  This could be last blog post we bring you before we embark on our trip to the States.  Bobby and I shall try to keep you all updated via our Instagram, and even make a sneaky blog post whilst we are out there.
But before I leave you, dear friends, I wanted to share some images that we both shot for the 19 Days Project.  You may recall my images shot for the same project a week ago, but I wanted to give you a little insight into Bobby's mind and the world he creates for us through his imagery x

the cold morning light

Bobby and I styled a photo shoot on the weekend, as part of a photography project I am taking part in (we will be styling and photographing his contribution on Sunday) and whilst I was sitting there editing my images I couldn’t help but allow a stream of thoughts flow through my mind ready for their own editing.
I discovered that maybe I need to write in order to create images that recreate an inkling of what is in my head.  One simply cannot exist without the other. The act of breathing life to the thoughts that echo within my head through the medium of the written word in turn sparks the connective labour of my second love, the visual medium.
How one cannot truly exist without the other has become intriguing to me. I wondered how long I could sit and think about this concept and dream up plausible reasons as to why.
During sleepless nights, I've found myself sitting here for hours, searching by a dim light perched in the corner of the room, for the words uttered by great scholars and authors which resonate and bring life to the voice within me. I’ll sit there, running my finger over the words of a cherished quote as though the simple act of touching the paper will infuse my skin and soul to the same identity.
And then I realise:
My writing is my identity.
My photography is a manifestation of those words.
The former cannot exist without the latter.
The atoms within the core of my being bellow this. It's what holds my essence together.
Knowing this and coming to this realisation, I trust in this fuel to keep moving forwards, trying to always be better at what I do, creating visuals from the words that are born within me.

Our Tomorrow

The weather got cold in Sydney this weekend.
We had our swimwear ready to hit the beach, but the slight nip in the breeze swiftly changed our minds, and we spent the rest of the day catching up on what we had left behind.
On this very weekend though, Bobby and I learnt something.  It wasn’t anything different, or new, but it was a gentle reminder of something we had forgotten.  To move forwards, you only have to be better than yesterday.
There.  You all now have the key to unlocking your inner selves too.
You just have to be better than yesterday.
We all have the potential to give a spark to the magic within us.
Reflect, mediate with your thoughts, and think about all the ways that tomorrow will be better because you will have taken a step closer to the next great thing to bless your lives.

This brought something to my attention, other the deeper side of this reflection and progressive journey.  We can apply this principal in anything we approach in our lives.  It really is that simple.  We can always be better than our yesterdays, if we try.  Staying true to that concept, in the passion of imagery, what would you think is a way to approach this through a visual medium…or what photography project would you like us to embark upon?
Look forward to reading some of your thoughts! x

A day with the Hatami's

It's a hazy day, but you can still feel the warmth resonating from the Sun.  Even though you can't see it, you can feel it.  The fuzz and the warmth.  The love.  Resonating.

The love encapsulated within the early stages of a family, growing with the intensity of an adoration which is surpassed by nothing else we can possibly fathom, has such a wonderful journey ahead of it.  You can see that love in the faces of the parents as they nurture the seeds of it to full bloom.

From the ring that Anisa wears as a birth gift for Jesse, to the donkey that Zane plays so affectionately with which used to be the same donkey that Ryan played with as a child.  The unity that plays out between the whispers of a parent and their children, it shines brighter than any light.

From the moment Jesse was born, we knew we wanted to give Anisa and Ryan something that they would remember.  We wanted to capture a moment in their lives where the life with their orbs of light was immortalized, something for them to cherish in the years to come as Zane and Jesse sprout their own roots of stability.
